About Tanya Lovett

I live in the UK and have been working as a mental health nurse in UK NHS mental health services for over 30 years. I therefore have significant experience supporting people experiencing mild, moderate or severe anxiety and have undergone trainings in CBT, DBT, Solution Focused therapy and CBT-E (for eating disorders). Although I am not a qualified psychologist or psychotherapist, my trainings and experience ensure that I have significant knowledge of evidence based and NICE recommended therapies.

I have been an EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Practitioner since 2012 and frequently use EFT Tapping to reduce the emotional impact of anxiety. I understand how anxiety can impact all areas of life and functioning and love the word "freedom" in the title of this tool - my aim is to support you to live more freely and with less fear.

In particular, I work with people with disordered eating in which anxiety plays a large part. If your anxiety impacts your eating or if your disordered eating is driven by anxiety, and you would like that to change, please reach out.

How they work with anxiety

I listen. I work with you to understand what you would like to change. Then we work together to choose the tools and techniques and strategies that can help you make those changes. If you feel able, I will guide you as to which techniques and strategies you can use between sessions which should allow change to happen more quickly. However we will take things at a pace that suits you.

What the first session is like

Each session is an hour long and takes place online.

Before the first session I will send you a form so I can get an idea of how your anxiety is impacting you. In the first session we will talk through the form, ensure we both have a clear idea of the difference you want to see and there will usually be time for you to experience EFT or some of the other techniques that will mean that you already have tools to support yourself between sessions if you would like.

After the session I will send you any resources I think might be helpful or we can explore whether you would find it helpful to use teh app.

As an Advanced EFT Practitioner I do see EFT as a very effective tool and will invite you to try it. EFT is a gentle set of techniques which can reduce the intensity of a problematic emotion quickly. However if your woudl rather use other techniques, we can work with those rather than EFT.
